More food!

Before I actually go into the food part, I thought I'd share what I did during JLP kanji class. During the last kanji class of 2012, the teacher asked us to do some kiddy calligraphy (using a pen, not a real brush) of one kanji that represents our year. I chose 失. Ushina(u), or just plain shitsu, it's a really depressing kanji to represent a year, meaning loss. 失敗、失恋、失望- just all kind of loss and depressing stuff. Safe to say I've disturbed my teachers quite a bit.

On to the food- this is ぐうたら's seasonal special: Christmas ramen! It was only available for a few days, and limited to 25 bowls a day. It was awe. some.

Mikan (mandarin orange? tangerine?) jelly I'm addicted to and hauled 21 cups of. The following week, I got 22.

Spaghetti I cut up to resemble rice. Failed.

Orange-cassis. Isn't the division of liquids so pretty?

Cookies Alyssa and Neil baked one night.

Honey-lemon madeleines I baked one night (with Won's assistance) cos I wanted snacks but was too lazy to cycle out to get some. Somehow wasn't too lazy to bake stuff from scratch. I don't understand myself sometimes.

Fake nails NOTM

Paid ¥2500 for these, put them on, went to sleep, woke up with half of them off. ¬_¬ I would actually blame the nail stickers that came with it. Shame, since these are so cute and elaborate.

A whole new meaning to Nails Of The Moment.

Random update

In case you didn't already know, I bleached my hair! I dyed over it too, but it faded a lot. The photo above is just bleach.

Random weekend (really long ago) spent at Mai's workplace then to sakai to buy cakes and ingredients and take purikura, then back to 3WD to bake and watch Sherlock~

All Some of the 16 Septens (+ the OYRs who bought it too) gathered on bakayama to take a photo with our cohort sweatshirts~

Inter-dorm caroling~

First S4L skype since I moved to Tokyo!

That's about it!

SNOW 初雪(冬だねぇ)

I come from the equator, and I've never been to a country during its winter before, so I've never actually seen real snow in my entire life. Naturally, when Alyssa came pounding on my door early in the morning (before 10am), I shot out of bed and probably set a personal record for fastest I've ever woken up.

What better way than to celebrate the snow by going out to frolick in it? So we did. At bakayama.

We made snowballs, threw snowballs, slid in snow on our feet and butts, drew stuff in the snow, and.....

MADE A SNOWMAN!!! Well I just watched them make it (and took photos), but it's my first snowman ever!!!

The view from my window.

Aaahhh~ it's winter...

Just food.

More of Yurie's curry soup!

Nutty choux cream MUTV served us at the workshop I went to~

Chocolate mud cake in the making.

Batter-licking. (Good batch) Yeah, funny story- I had to make a second batch cos I mistook salt for sugar and put 2 cups of it in the first batch. Nobody is letting me live that down. It doesn't help that I didn't put enough baking power and burnt it a little, so they turned out rock hard. Some refer to the first product as "the weapons Bethany baked".

Valentine's came to 3WD a few months early.

My last teenage year

On December 15th 2012, I turned 19. I've entered my last year of teenagehood. My last year as a child (minor) in Japan. My last remotely youngish birthday. My first birthday away from my family. My first birthday in Japan. My first birthday as a university student. Blah blah blah.

I honestly don't think birthdays are that big of a deal. Who wants to get officially one number older anyway? I wanna be 18 forever. But birthdays are a good excuse to celebrate and get presents. The izakaya we went to gave us free ice cream cake when we told them it was my birthday! That's what birthdays are awesome for. (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ु⁾⁾

My birthday celebrations actually began from the night before, because it was 2MD ball, so we literally had a ball. At midnight, 3WD girls sang me a birthday song and gave me lotsa snacks~ And when I woke up properly, I went out with Barbie~ ꒰ ◍ᵒ̌ૢ௰ᵒ̌ૢ ꒱

We were actually supposed to go to Harajuku to shop, but the weather forecast said it was gonna rain all afternoon downtown, so we cancelled and just went to the train station to take purikura and eat. There are so many mistakes in my writing in the second purikura above. Kinda hard to decorate and write on 6 shots while on a time limit.

My birthday lunch- a kiddy omurice meal. =͟͟͞͞ ऀืົཽ≀ ͔ ͕̮ ऀืົཽ✧

And then at night, a bunch of 3WD + Sae, Neil and Rei went to an izakaya to celebrate!!! And for 2次会 (round 2 party), we went to all-night karaoke~~~

Chicken with my デ部部長 and beloved roomie Yurie~ ʕ͙•̫͑͡•ʔͦʕͮ•̫ͤ͡•ʔ͙

With パルたん♡

2 weeks later, Yurie made me purin as a belated birthday present!!!

So that pretty much summarises my 19th birthday. Nothing much, but all I could ask for- spent it with the best people doing what we always do.

I feel old.

Winter Break 2012

Winter break was a fun-filled awesome time. We kicked it off with a Christmas/Holiday Nabe (hotpot) party at 2MD on the weekend break began (photos from Mai and Yuri respectively).

Mai, Kaho and I did the ingredient preparations, and I was in charge of cutting the carrots, as you can see above. ꒰ ◍ᵒ̌ૢ௰ᵒ̌ૢ ꒱

Christmas was Kanoko's birthday, so a few of us remaining in 3WD went to Ueno to have fun!

And in the evening, we had our own Christmas party in the tatami room~~~ =͟͟͞͞ ऀืົཽ≀ ͔ ͕̮ ऀืົཽ✧

And then New Year!!! I had been sick since the day after Christmas, and didn't even leave the dorm for 2 weeks. Since everyone went back home, basically none of my friends were still in 3WD and I had no plans for NYE- a first in years. On NYE itself however, I got a bunch of invitations- but I chose 2MD's Nabepa because who better to spend New Year's with than with them (photo from Kiyo-chan)?

We had nabe while watching Gaki no Tsukai and Kouhaku, then after it became 2013, we cycled out to the local shrine for hatsumoude and soba. On the way back, we had ice janken and enjoyed our free ice cream in the middle of winter. Got back, continued what we were doing before we left until like 5am, and finally dragged myself back to 3WD, only to wake in a few hours to get ready for a movie at 2.30pm- which we ended up only watching at 9.15pm.

I also got a super cute New Year greeting card (hand-drawn) from Leona~~~ (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ु⁾⁾

And somewhere along the break I acquired the skill to niketsu!!! Photo by Mai- a pretty good shot considering she was cycling while taking it.

So that pretty much sums up my winter break, most of which was spent sick and alone. I have to thank Yurie, though- she took care of me when she was around. She went out to get my fever patches, sports drinks, snacks and chicken, and even cooked porridge for me. ૮( ऀืົཽु ˙̫̮ ऀืົཽू)ა✧

Now winter break is almost over, most my friends are back, and we're gonna have more fun than ever. I love dorm life so, so much.
